Selling my Landrover

Topics that don't easily fit anywhere else!

Postby Toby Allen » Mon Mar 14, 2011 6:03 pm

It's a good reliable truck, and I'll be very sorry to see her go. I've bought an RB44 so she has to go.

It's a Defender 110, 200tdi. 1991 H reg. Hardtop.

Theres a good set of Cooper mud terrains on, also a set of road wheels to save money on long journeys. Snorkel, roof rack.

It's been well looked after, I gave it a service recently and changed all the oils, including the gear and transfer box.

Starts first time, every time, any weather.

£3500 ono

To come and have a look email or phone me.

I'm near Bromyard, Herefordshire.

To be honest Toby it sounds overpriced to me.

Whats the milage ?

My brother recently sold his 110 300tdi in pretty good nick & could only get two & a half

As I'm sure your aware richard, with Landrovers and Tractors you pay for condition rather than age.

The 200tdi is a bloody good towing machine, which is why I asked Brightwells what the value should be.

Up here in Hereford a good truck is considered a sound investment, if you work in the woods or on the land it's an important tool. It's probably different up your way with more being bought for weekends and the general affluence of second hand 4x4s, thats likely why you could screw your brother down on price.

That said I am open to realistic offers.

Fact is that old Landrover prices are down for at least three reasons.

1. The Recession

2. High fuel prices

3. Barking Boris's hundred quid a day fee for old diesel vans inside the M25 coming in a years time.

.

Just watch that barrage of Boris's bangers

Maybe there's a bit of business there for you Richard. Out here if you need a truck you get a good one as it's an essential rather than a luxury.

Reynold Boughton RB44.

Ex MOD, winch truck, used for carrying troops and ammo. Mine was a mortar squad truck.

5300 kg

7300 train wieght

Very solid, as most army things are.

It's very handy for pulling sticks back to the yard.

A bit like a landy on steroids, or a poor mans unimog.

Have a look on Withams website.

Thanks, Withams seem to have them from £3500 or £6500 nearly new. The general concencus is that they are a nightmare from driving to maintaince but hey don't they look good in matt green. Do they have PTO's

May give you a ring

The RB44 has a terrible reputation, which is why they are a fair price.

It started because when first commissioned they swerved to the left when braking hard. Several million pounds was spent on modifying the fleet with a tie bar bracketed onto the chassis. They have drum brakes all round which need adjusting manually by a competent person or they dont work in unison.

Some of the parts can be hard (very hard) to source, but this is due to change with so many being released now. Brake cylinders are supposed to impossible to find but I've seen a couple on ebay recently.

Squaddies didnt like them, which is a bonus in my book....
