Hi all

Our new website, www.firewood.co.uk has gone live. Still needs lots of work and input - so if you have anything like advice, articles, comments, suggestions, photos, links - please email them to me! At the moment, most of the photos come from Mike Pepler, so would be nice to have others!

thanks!

That's a generous-spirited website, which would have saved me so much hassle in my more ignorant state some years ago. Thanks to you and to Mike.

Good old Mike gave me most of that info! Anything you could send me to add? Any photos of your own log stacks?

Hi Tracy,

Met you at the Woodfuel Pathfinder at Torrey Hill last Friday. Just to let you know, Google Ads has put up an Ad for Latvian Birch Logs at Euro 2.90 per 40 kg on your firewood.co.uk - don´t know if this is such good business for UK producers.

useful website. I'm just splitting wood to start selling it in the Autunm. It would be nice to know on the website what is the best length to cut it?

Followed some "you tube" threads from Mikes splitting demos to see a way to split using an old tyre.

Saves bending down to pick up the split logs to put in a bag / barrow / trailers etc.

Anything to save my bad back.

Ah, I shall add that Darren

Sadly, everyone wants different lengths - depends on how long their fire/ woodburner is! We tended to cut to order. I guess if in doubt, cut it short! (although having said that, shorter it is the more difficult it is to stack and move...

I'm trying to have a system of one size fits all. My thinking is 9 inches is good. The problem with cutting it short is all that extra cutting and waste.
