Dirk Sporleder: Woodland management services in NE Scotland
Dirk studied forestry in Germany (at the University of Applied Forest Sciences Rottenburg am Neckar, Baden Württemberg) and graduated as an Engineer for Forestry. His degree focused almost entirely on Continuous Cover Forestry. Since moving to Scotland in 2007, Dirk has planned and implemented the Perthshire Coppice Project (on behalf of the Scottish Crannog Centre).
Dirk has been working as a woodland manager (and woodland management adviser) since 2019, for Dronley Community Woodland, Den of Scone Wood, Kinclune Estate, and Logie Estate. His work focuses on Continuous Cover Forestry, but he is also very interested in Coppicing and Coppice with Standards.
Dirk offers woodland management, woodland management advice, woodland surveys, woodland management plans, deer management plans, woodland creation schemes and courses (woodland management, coppicing and hurdle making). The woodland management courses focus on continuous cover forestry.
